“Sunshine tour” 2023

 Born in China but raised in Canada, Sunny has not returned to his birth country since he was 5 years old. He had always felt a deep connection with Chinese culture, and wished to bring his music to his birthplace.

In the Summer of 2023, he teamed up with his classmate, Yangyang Liang, a viola student at The Juilliard School, to visit China for the first time in almost 14 years. This tour presented both solo and duo recitals across the country, at Renmin University, DaLian University, ShenYang Golden Steinway hall, Nanjing Steinway Gallery, International Center of Music and Arts Beijing.

To celebrate the 190th anniversary of Brahms’ birth, one of Sunny’s favourite composers, he put together an all-Brahms recital with viola, including both viola sonatas, op. 118 intermezzi, and Paganini variations.

The tour continues in the winter of 2023/2024, where he will present recitals at Qingdao, Beijing, and other locations TBD.
